Endearing Indie Adventure Game In Woods Has Now Got Even Better

We spoke about In Woods back in May, and were impressed. But now it’s got even better thanks to a recent update. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you have no excuses now.

A top down adventure available on PC via Steam, it sees you dropped into wild lush grasslands with one simple objective – survive.

There’s a lot to do in In Woods, and all of it is geared towards helping you survive. There are a range of monsters to defend yourself from, but there’s also the need to use the environment to your advantage.

This includes using materials to forge and craft loot. All craftables need wood to be made for example, and help improve your stats – namely health, attack power, and pick-up radius. And a few other things besides. There’s a huge range of items to equip and make you take on battles exactly how you want to.

There are bonuses for surviving a specific amount of time, but also Magic Cards to nab which alter the gameplay quite drastically. 

Something we welcome in a roguelite like this is that there is actually a final boss, but only the very best players will get the chance to take them on. 

Alongside this there are 60 unique Steam achievements to unlock, which increases the lifespan of the game considerably. These include the very achievable – breaking 100 items – to the much more daunting, such as the expert Poisohell Domination challenge.

So How About That Update?

The recent update has improved the (already enjoyable) experience massively too. Most notably the pace of everything has sped up, meaning everything feels more high stakes. A very welcome tweak.

In terms of other changes, trees in the game now automatically respawn when you’re playing in endless mode. Which makes the mode a lot more fun, especially as there’s now an auto-aim control function.
