Midnight Special has officially launched, now with the complete story of Episode 1. If you played the demo, you can rest assured that the secrets of Boyd Manor will now be unveiled.

For those unfamiliar with Midnight Special, it’s a retro pixel point-and-click horror game that takes inspiration from the golden era of slashers and sci-fi, which you can learn more about by visiting the official page on Steam.

A Callback to 80s Slashers

It’s the 1980s, and you’re babysitting Eli and Jon Boyd in their parents’ fancy manor. Your name is Sarah, and this is a typical nighttime routine for you, so nothing is out of the ordinary. That is, until the power suddenly goes out.

The house is shrouded in darkness, and the further you go, the worse it gets. The phone keeps ringing, only to be met with a disturbing answer. Foul smells are wafting through the rooms, and furniture is moving without being touched.

Either Sarah is going crazy… or something else is afoot.

Mysteries of the Manor

As you’d expect from a point-and-click game, there are plenty of puzzles to work out and interactive objects, as well as a deep, dark secret that only you can shine light on.

Make sure to click on everything, as you never know what might happen. The incredible sound design boasts an atmospheric soundtrack and effects that make it seem like you’re right there in the house with Sarah.

Come face to face with strange creatures, driving Sarah to the edge of insanity as she tries to work out just what is going on. Babysitting the kids is the least of her worries now.

Midnight Special is an ode to classic horror, both movies and video games. Mixing survival horror with a side-scrolling point-and-click adventure, it’s up to you to discover the truth of the manor. Check it out on Steam now!
