Gamezebo: Hands On Preview with Glohow’s Impressive Black Beacon
Black Beacon is an ambitious and visually impressive action-RPG developed by Mingzhou Network Technology and published by Glohow. It features a beautiful art style, great voice acting, and amazing combat.
The narrative is strong, too, involving the Library of Babel, the Sun God, time travel, and countless twists and turns.
It all starts with the mysterious activation of the Beacon, which triggers a series of unexplained events at the Babel Tower. Meanwhile, a secret society called the Eme-an discovers the existence of the evil Sun God, and you begin your journey to stop it with the help of Zero and Ereshan.
The gameworld is inspired by mythology and classical fantasy literature, evident through the stunning visuals. Black Beacon may be an action-RPG, but it’s also a bulging library full of secrets and hidden details to get lost in.
Powerful and Interesting Characters
As you work your way through Black Beacon’s expansive campaign you’ll unlock characters. Each character is unique and offers different combat skills to help you. These characters are all well-developed, with their own distinct personalities and special skills.
Zero is one of the first characters you’ll come across. She’s a calm, mysterious, and almost blunt guardian of the Library of Babel. Fierce in combat, she can knock enemies out almost instantly, which obviously makes her one of our personal favourites (alongside Ereshan).
When you’re in battle, you can field characters best suited to the enemies you’re facing. Before entering combat, you can curate the perfect team of up to three characters. Your roster grows as you collect new characters and upgrade the ones you’ve got.
The combat itself is player-controlled, so you need to be strategic. The battle tutorial does a good job of explaining the basics, but each character has their own unique moves that you’ll need to master on your own.
A personal favourite is Shamash’s chain weapon, which lashes out and grabs enemies before roughing them up. Everyone also has a finishing move, too, accompanied by an eye-popping cutscene. These special moves deal tons of individual and AoE damage.
Pre-Register to Get Rewards
Who doesn’t love freebies? When you pre-register on the official website, you’ll line yourself up for x10 Development Material Boxes when the game officially launches. If you pre-register on an app store, meanwhile, you’ll unlock a (very stylish and exclusive) Zero Costume.
That’s not all. Black Beacon also has milestone rewards for the total number of pre-registrations, with 100k registrations unlocking x30,000 Orelium, 250k unlocking x5 Development Material Boxes, 500k unlocking x10 Lost Time Keys, 750k unlocking Ninsar, and 1m unlocking x10 Time-Seekings Keys.
The global beta is set to run from January 8th until January 17th. Black Beacon will be available in most countries, excluding certain specific regions.
