MU Online is one of the most durable MMORPGs in the world. Not only has this acclaimed medieval fantasy game stood the test of time after its launch in 2001, but it has also seamlessly made the leap to mobile and inspired a family of spinoffs.

Only a select handful of games have managed that feat.

The secret to a long gaming marriage is to keep things fresh. Developer Webzen is doing that in style with its latest revolutionary update, which shakes up one of the game’s most popular classes—Grow Lancer—for the first time since its global release in 2015.

Grow Lancer was the third female character to be added to MU Online alongside Elf and Summoner. Best-known for her melee characteristics, Grow Lancer wields a lance (duh) in battle and has the ability to inflict a whole heap of physical or elemental damage.

And now, thanks to changes introduced in MU Season 19-1 Part 1, Grow Lancer has a brace of new skills.

Oversting lets you immediately summon a number of Grow Lancers equal to her number of targets and deliver a straight stab to each of them. Wild Breche, meanwhile, sees Grow Lancer swinging her lance around to inflict AoE damage.

On top of those skills, there are several new Grow Lancer-exclusive Master Lancer Shield items to collect, all of which help to boost her base DEF.

These Lancer Shields include Bloodangel, Dark Angel, Holyangel, Soul, Blue Eye, Silver Heart, Manticore, and Brilliant.

All in all, this is one of the most significant updates MU Online has ever received, and Webzen is anticipating an influx of new and lapsed players to join the existing player base in racing to see how the changes affect the gameplay.

To expedite the process of finding out, the studio has created a special Speed Server and a series of events.

While on this server, players will get 100 Ruud for every level-up from LV401 to LV800. That makes 40,000 Ruud overall.

And once they return to an original server—using a free Server Transfer Ticket—they’ll also receive a host of rewards including a Talisman of Ascension and +11 Bloodangel Armor Set. Even more rewards are available for players determined enough to reach LV800.

Finally, the Playtime Attack event, set to run from August 2nd until August 4th, will let you fill your boots with even more rewards while challenging yourself at the same time.

Here’s the event page. To register for an MU Online account, just head here and fill in your details. You can download the game here.
